We Welcome Your Family to Santa Cruz City Schools!


2021-22 School Year Transitional Kinder/Kinder
Pre-Registration Begins February 18th, 2021

Please Note: To be eligible for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) enrollment, your child must be turning five years old from September 2nd through December 2nd.
To be eligible for Kindergarten enrollment your child must be five years old on or before September 1 of the year in which the student enters kindergarten. California Kindergarten Eligibility Requirements

Step 1. Determine your neighborhood school. Click here to find your School of Residence

Step 2. Register your student. All students, new or returning, must be registered online using Illuminate.

New Students:
Parents must create an Illuminate Parent Portal Account to begin registration.

Once your account has been created, you must login in to complete the Registration documents. Login to the Parent Portal Here

*Note: Your username will be the email address you provided when requesting access. If you have more than one student in the district, each student will be accessible from your account.

The following documents are required for registration, and must be submitted to your school in person:

  • Copy of Immunization Records Immunizations for School Requirements
  • Verification of Age (birth record, birth certificate, baptism certificate, passport or affidavit of the parent, guardian or custodian of the minor)
  • Proof of Residence (PG&E or water bill)

Attending a school other than your school of residence

We offer the opportunity for students to attend a school outside of their neighborhood's attendance boundary.

For Intradistrict transfer for the 2020-21 school year, the priority filing period for Middle and High Schools is January 13 through February 8, 2020. Applications will be available January 13th, 2020. Please download the application, complete and return to the District Office of Santa Cruz City Schools, 133 Mission St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060, or by Fax: 429-3450 by 4:30 pm on February 8th (secondary). 
In the Elementary District, applications will be accepted from February 18th to March 8th. Please download the application, complete and return it to your school of residence.

Intradistrict Transfers
Students living within Santa Cruz City Schools District that wish to apply for a transfer to a school other than the school of their residence, must apply for an Intradistrict Transfer. Intradistrict Transfers will be granted if space within the school requested exists for a new student. Please use the link below to complete the application:

Interdistrict Transfers
Students living within Santa Cruz City Schools District and wish to attend a school outside the district must complete an Interdistrict Transfer from Santa Cruz City Schools. Please use the link below to complete the application:

Students living outside Santa Cruz City Schools District that wish to attend a school within Santa Cruz City Schools must initiate an Interdistrict Transfer request at the school district of their residence.
