Classroom Music
All Westlake students receive regular music instruction. The primary grades enjoy singing and movement with a primary music teacher. Third through fifth graders attend music class and learn musical concepts, sing, dance and use instruments.
Music instruction is educationally beneficial for children. Studies have shown that students who study music score consistently higher on math and verbal standardized tests. Also, participation in music makes for a more enjoyable school and social life.
After School Band
Fourth and fifth graders can choose to join the school band. The band meets after school and students can play flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone or percussion. The band performs several times during the year and is an integral part of the school.
